"The Escapologist / Entfesselungskünstler", Video 6.6 Min, 2008

Der Entfesslungskünstler:
Während der diesem kurzen Experimentellen Film mit dem Thema Auswanderung auseinandergesetzt, berücksichtigt er auch gleichseitig die formellen Verhältnissen zwischen Bilder, der Prozess des narrativ Aufbaus und die daraus entstanden Rhythmen. Eine poetische Reise die drei europäische Länder besucht und die der Betrachter sowohl seelisch als auch gedanklich ermutigt um zu partizipieren in den Aufbau einer Geschichte

The Escapologist:
This short experimental film whilst exploring the theme of immigration, also investigates the formal relationships between images, the process of narrative construction and the rhythms thereby generated.A poetic journey which visits three European countries and encourages the viewer to participate both emotionally and intellectually in the construction of a story.

CV

Gillian Holt is an English born fine artist filmmaker. A strong interest in queer politics, feminism and gender studies are among the factors that drive her extensive and varied body of works.

She has exhibited in major public exhibitions in England and in Continental Europe, has had her work screened at film festivals, has won international competitions, and has works in several private collections.

Recent projects include; a spoof soap opera, a film shot on location in Poland (which was honoured with a joint first place in the prestigious 2006 Manchester cornerhouse film festival), a music video for the latest album release from international award winning musician Mark Eden, and a short film, which was shot on location in Cornwall England. Currently she is working on another major short film project and also organizing and participating in several international exhibitions. She lives and works in Germany and in England.
